For over three decades, I have been committed to the healing, empowerment, and liberation of Black people—mind, body, spirit, and community. My work is rooted in an African-centered, holistic approach that recognizes the deep impact of systemic oppression, racial trauma, and the enduring resilience of our people. Health equity, to me, means more than access. It means justice. It means restoring dignity, centering cultural wisdom, and cultivating spaces where Black people can not only survive but truly thrive. As a community healer, psychologist, educator, and advocate, I know that health and wellness cannot be separated from the historical and present-day realities of racism and anti-Blackness. True health equity demands we dismantle the systems that harm us and invest in those that uplift and honor us. It calls for trauma-informed, culturally grounded care; for policies and practices that prioritize the needs of the most marginalized; and for intentional healing spaces like Safe Black Space—where our collective grief, resilience, and joy can be held and honored. In all my roles—from clinical work to academia, from grassroots healing circles to national advocacy—I have remained guided by a vision of wholeness and liberation. I am committed to shaping a future where health equity means reparative justice, intergenerational healing, and thriving Black communities. This is not just professional work. This is soul work. This is legacy work.
