About Aretha Hampton
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW #65834) with 24 years of mental health experience. Healing and self discovery is a journey and not a destination. Psychotherapy is a tool to support you to identify, accept, change and understand the root of your thoughts and behaviors. In this space we explore (1) Why we do what we do and, (2) How to be what we want to be and, (3) Let go of who we needed to be in order to survive. I work with children and adults supporting them to be comfortable in their skin. My style is relaxed, direct and conversational. My goal is to help you feel seen, heard and understood through a lens that is down to Earth, respectful and inclusive of all the parts of yourself. I specialize in trauma including developmental trauma, attachment, perinatal mental health, and men's health. I use various evidence based therapeutic modalities to support clients through life's ups and downs. I completed the Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship. I completed my PhD at Fielding Graduate University in Infant and Early Childhood Development. In understanding attachment styles and the relationship with expressing feelings, understanding how early relationships impact and prepare people for adulthood is foundational to my practice. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing & Brainspotting practices to support clients. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Internal Family Systems. I also love talking about the brain! Understanding how different parts of the brain work helps to understand our stress responses which influence how we react to situations and in our relationships.
